Talmar's Summer Cut Flower Program
In the summer the fields at TALMAR are filled with Specialty Cuts, which are flowers grown for fresh or dried floral displays. The fields are opened seasonally to the general public one day a week when they may cut their own flowers. Our consumers cut and bunch flowers selling to anyone wishing to purchase them prearranged. Two days a week, consumers also sell directly to the public or at area farmers markets.A few seasons ago, TALMAR implemented a Flower Subscription Program. Similar to our new cooperative Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, the Flower Subscription Program provides a mutually beneficial arrangement between farmer/growers and the community. In exchange for financial support in the spring from the subscribers, the grower (TALMAR’s consumers and staff) commits to provide organically grown, specialty cut flowers weekly throughout the growing season.
We harvest our flowers using a sustainable treatment process that guarantees freshness. We keep our flowers cool and watered and ready for sale or delivery to you on the same day.
Most businesses that grow cut flowers use pesticides andother chemicals (the effect can last for days). At TALMAR, our sustainable methods for growing flowers are safer for your home and family. These methods, which reduce pollution and employ only organic methods of growing, use only natural herbicides, pesticides and fertilizers.
Get better-quality flowers that are ‘a cut above’ the rest with TALMAR’s Subscription Program. Please check back in the spring of 2012 for updated information about this program.
