Talmar Interns play key roles in conducting the day-to-day
activities at Talmar and assist with many community outreach activities as well. Such activities may include selling flowers at local farmers’ markets or facilitating a horticultural activity session at TALMAR Gardens with a group of young adults with special needs from local schools and agencies.
Though we work with people having various disabilities, most consumers have a developmental disability that may include mild to moderate mental retardation, learning disabilities, Down syndrome, emotional disabilities, or may present some form of Autism, a Youth-At-Risk, etc.
TALMAR interns participate in all aspects of the horticultural operation, while working with a diversity of consumers of all ages, including those with special needs. Interns make important contributions in all areas of the life and activities at TALMAR Gardens and Horticultural Center and assist in making goals and success possible.
TALMAR is an approved intern site for those seeking certification from The American Horticultural Therapy Association (AHTA).
